Recent Events

GameFest 2023 included a live showcase and award ceremony featuring nominations across nine categories, all of which were judged by a panel of local industry professionals. For this event, we received fifty-four submissions from eight universities across New York State, Connecticut, and Massachusetts -- an initial round of evaluations brought the final number for our showcase down to thirty teams from across the region.

GameFest 2022 featured over thirty submissions and fifteen live demos from students across the State of New York and New England. We also launched our first ever graduate student symposium, consisting of five research presentations from doctoral students in the Critical Game Design Program at RPI.

Due to the continuing impact of COVID-19, GameFest 2022 also place live in AltspaceVR, a free social virtual reality platform accessible via PC, Oculus Rift, and Vive. Our original instructions for joining the event are retained here for archival purposes:

Before you join, you'll need to download and create an account with AltspaceVR. (Keep in mind that you may have trouble creating an account if you use a university-issued email address.)

Once you've completed both steps, you're ready to enter the world! See our event page or join us directly by entering the world code "YAM667" in the client app.
